SALEM, N.H. – Staff members from Emagination Computer Camps have volunteered to participate in Extra Life, a charity event to support the Children’s Miracle Network and its associated hospitals, at their corporate office in Salem, N.H. on Saturday, Nov. 21, starting at 9 a.m.
Extra Life is a 24-hour gaming marathon to raise money for a Children’s Miracle Network hospital of the participants’ choice. This year the Emagination Staff has chosen to support the Boston Children’s Hospital.
“At Emagination we’re on a mission to help develop healthy kids and teens through our summer camp programs,” said Craig Whiting, executive director. “Participating in an event like Extra Life gives us the opportunity to help kids outside of the camp season.”
According to the Extra Life website, the charity started in 2008 when members of the podcast, Sarcastic Gamer, came together to raise money to honor a young lady named Victoria Enmon who lost her battle with lymphoblastic leukemia in 2008. In 2008 and 2009 Extra Life raised more than $300,000, all of which went to help kids like Victoria at the Texas Children?s Hospital.
After a massive wave of support from gamers, websites, and donors, Extra Life has expanded to allow participants to raise money for the Children?s Miracle Network of their choice and has raised more than $14 million since 2008.
